My review would have been a 2-star had it not been for the lovely salon coordinator and the talented and kind Becca. I wish I had started with her as this review would have been a 5-star! My experience here was... not great, though I am somewhat satisfied with the end result. All was lovely from the start. From my arrival, I was greeted with an Aveda tea while I filled out a short survey card about my hair routine. I met with the stylist and we discussed some treatments to pair with my haircut, that would ease my frizz. She politely noted the price and offered something more reasonable. I asked which was better and we decide on the more expensive one, no big deal. The overall price was perhaps on the high side, $209 AUD for a cut and Olaplex treatment, but not astounding for the area or type of salon. I was treated to a lovely treatment application/shampoo/condition by Jenny with a scalp massage and hand massage while the treatment did it's magic, very relaxing! Afterwards, the stylist let me smell a couple of essential oil and I chose one she used to give me a short but nice neck and shoulder rub, as is done at Aveda salons. I had very long hair, down to my belt line. I wanted to part with about 3.5 inches. She cut the overall length as I wanted but after asking for layers 3 times, I let her do her work. In the past, I've seen some stylist cut my hair wet, dry, semi-dry... I decided to let her do her work. She cut my fringe without asking me how long I'd like it - they're very short! You can't put it back but I asked her not to cut any more length off of the fringe as she kept going back to them. She managed to insult the person that last cut them by saying they were cut poorly. She recommends a smoothing anti-frizz product that can be used when blow drying or air drying - I say I'll take one as I sometimes like to let my naturally curly hair air dry. Before you know it, she is whisking off the cape and my haircut it over. It looks like a child's haircut. No shape, no style, just my short bangs and basically one length. I don't know what to say as I asked multiple times for layers. I follow her up to pay and she shows me the anti-frizz product. It's in different packaging. I ask if it's the same thing she showed me before and she said "Basically". No ma'am. This product she is showing gradually straightens curly hair - not what I want. I say I'll skip it. Thankfully, the stylist is off with another client and the salon coordinator checks me out. She asks how I like the service. I tell her that it's not what I asked for but I don't want to make a big deal of it. She insists that they want all clients to leave happy so please have a seat and the stylist will fix it. When the stylist return and the coordinator attempts to facilitate a conversation the stylist says among other things "This is not just a cheap haircut place. It is a good salon where we try to help you." Uh, okay. She said she doesn't recommend it but the salon coordinator says we want you to leave happy. The woman nearly refuses but I'm convinced to sit down and the stylist says "Okay where do you want the layers to start?" I indicate where, I was feeling very unsure, EXTREMELY uncomfortable. She seemed upset with me. She grabs her scissors and says "Here?" Before I can answer she pulls the scissors, "It won't look good though." SNIP! I sit uncomfortable for a moment and then say "Really, it's okay. You don't have to change it. I feel uncomfortable and you seem upset so I'll just go." I wasn't mad or raising my voice, just feeling sheepish. I looked around for help. In comes coordinator and again insists that she wants me to leave happy. She brings Becca in... Becca has the haircut I want! Long layers. She fixes the cut and makes happy chatter with me, and reassures me that my hair will look great. Guess what? Other than the very short bangs, IT DOES :-) A little too much stress to give it a glowing review but if you get to see Becca, with all the other great aspects of this salon, you will likely have an excellent experience.

Love love my hair.. the best experience EVER! Lauren you are a super star! Highly recommend this place.

I've now changed the feedback to four stars for Solace's customer service. Michelle, the salon coordinator, contacted me immediately to address my concern. She was patient with me and was proactive in rectifying the issue by offering solutions to the customer whenever possible.Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I didn't have to write a review but I truly feel obligated to let everyone else know about my wonderful experience here at Solace. My requirements when choosing a new salon are at least 4.8 stars in customer satisfaction, and well, Solace fit the bill. But oh my, is it absolutely gorgeous. So are the staff that work there. Invigorating scents, calming music, complementary coffee and wine. My balayage is absolutely perfect, thanks to the Polish lady (forgot her name, but I'm certain she is the master stylist), who is without a doubt a hair magician. Liz was also so lovely and really talented and offered to do my makeup to get my photos taken. How awesome is that?! Thanks everyone! Definitely will be back soon

Thank you to Becca and Ellen for taking such good care of me and fitting me in with very short notice. They were attentive and very thorough. My hair is feeling fantastic, thanks again ladies :)
