A great place to both visit to look around but also to study or work if you need to. Helpful staff and great resources. Fast, free internet along with ample desks, although some additional charging points would make it even more useful.

Beautiful library and building, featuring a cafe, a small gift shop, and a galley and museum. Definitely not of the cozy variety, much more sleek and clean, but a good place to take a rest and read a book. The art collections are totally incredible. Worth a trip just for the museum-quality gallery! Loved the video exhibit featuring aboriginal elders.

Quite decent environment for studying. Ventilation is good and very quiet. But library is always packed. sometimes there are some weird people laughing around, and too many couples...

What a delightful surprise. It's far more than just a library, but also a gallery, museum and loads and loads of history. Free guided tours are most informative. A nice cafe on the main floor , hidden away by the bookstore / gift shop, offers nice selection of warm meals, salads and snacks in a pleasant setting. The gallery is better than some fine arts Museums in world famous cities, and it has interactive displays of most art that will surely impress everyone. You can easily spend the entire day in this building. And it's all free!

I am in love with this Public Library. The Mitchell Reading Room is peaceful and has an amazing quiet atmosphere. Whether you just want to have a glance or want to spend a couple of hour to read, study or work, I highly recommend this place.
